Omurice by asainemuri Omurice by asainemuri
Delicious Omurice!!

Omurice (オムライス) is a absolutely fabulous Japanese fusion dish that consists of a thin egg omelette filled with fluffy chicken/tomato/veggie rice. It's SO good. :D We make it every so often around here, and I've finally mastered making the omelette without breaking it, LOL. XD Happiness~

Have you tried it?
If not, you definitely should! ^__^

I bet you would! Most Japanese food is a shock to westerners, but it grows on you fast! :)

OMG Omurice! I've never tried it either (sadly..) But I have BIG plans to try it out! I proposed this to my mom for us to try it one night when it's just me and her, and she sadi that she'll take me up on that. ^^

eitherway, Omurice (plus the daifuku) Are definitely on my Japanese food bucket list! :w00t!:

X3 Oh believe me Nemuri-sempai, I PLAN to!

Say, I'm curious about something: I do see some mushrooms as part of the chicken rice filling, but what other ingredients did you use? It looks pretty darn tasty.

Almost my exact recipe is here! www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcJlmh…

Only no peas, because I didn't have any. XD But usually I add peas or broccoli! I hope you enjoy it when you try it! Most important thing to have when making the omelet is a good nonstick pan. :)

OOOH! Thank you very much Nemuri-sempai! XD You're the best! Plus, Cooking with dog's a pretty awesome show! I mean, it's not every day one comes across a show hosted by a gray french poodle! X3

I've already got some frozen peas in the freezer for when the time comes to make it, and my house also has a pretty handy non-stick pan. So, I'm all set! Now to wait for a good day to make it for mom and myself. ((I proposed to make the dish for my sister and my bro, and they turned the offer down, because eggs don't settle with my sis, and My brother just found the dish to be odd....=( ))

OOh Hey, did the thumbnail I send you work alright, by any chance?

Oh, I love it. Even if it's supposed to be "kid's food", I love it.

Have you ever tried demi-glace style sauce instead of ketchup? I use ketchup only for decoration (=drawing or writing something on it).

Me too! :aww: Considering how many adults like it and eat it regularly I don't really think it should be considered kid's food. :XD:

And yes, I've had it before. :) I'm a picky egg eater myself, so I usually have to pair it up with something very sweet (tomatoes or ketchup, etc) otherwise I lose my craving for it!

In Japan, they usually cook it for children at home (you know, simple taste and easy with spoon). Also, you can find it from many restaurant as kid's menu... Good, it's enough size for me! :p

ahhh I love making omurice XD but I'm SO TERRIBLE at making things look pretty, it always gets messy. that's bad considering half of the deal with japanese cooking is the aesthetics.... all your food always looks so good. I'm coming to live in your basement T___T
