"The Hannya 「般若」 is a demon mask used in Japanese Noh theater. It portrays souls (typically female) who have become demons due to their jealousy, usually of another person. The Hannya mask is said to be demonic and dangerous but also sorrowful and tormented, displaying the complexity of human emotions. When the actor looks straight ahead, the mask appears frightening and angry; when tilted slightly down, the face of the demon appears to be sorrowful, as though crying."
Although playing hard to get a lot of the time, Nagi (red) is quite the jealous lover. Yuuya is very precious to him. <3
You'd think after all the work I put into painting this shit I would photograph it more. -fail- I think I'm going to be repainting Nagi very soon...his face needs an update.
(Yeah, both of these characters are male (despite how pretty -- I like pretty, it's my thing) but they are also dolls, so please take your nonsense remarks elsewhere. No one is making you look at this photo, just yourself. So if you have an issue with it, just look elsewhere and spare me (and yourself) the stupidity of commenting. Thank you kindly.)
It surprises me when they are. The only ones I know that are into men are online and half or more of those are fakes with stolen photos of pretty guys. lol Im always like, damn what a waste. Wouldnt mind snagging me a pretty one sometime. haha
Hahaha XD Sad, sad, saddd. Most of the ones I know who are real are in Asia, barely speak english, and I don't get to see them that often. But I know what you mean -- pretty much every good looking pretty boy who I met online was actually a 13 year old girl.
Lucky for me, I'm a professional agency, studio and freelance photographer, so I get to meet lots of handsome men and gorgeous pretty boys, LOL.
Ahhh, well lucky you! :3 I got snagged for modeling some jewelry for a smaller company in IN a couple years back. Hated it. They made me wear a bunch of crap that I REALLY didnt like clothing wise and made me wear a lot of makeup. I looked like a chick. The lady had a skewed sense of what "gothic" looked like on a guy. I think Industrial was more what she was thinking... Im far from the raver type. xD After that, I told myself I no longer thought modeling may sound fun. lmao I can pull off the androgynous look and crap but im not into bright colors and junk. >___>
Aww, that really sucks. Yeah, some agencies have a really Mickey Mouse idea of what "dark" anything looks like. XD They tend to lighten it up for public consumption. Right now the big thing is "girls who look softly weird but aren't actually weird" which really irritates me somehow. >__> Androgynous men are slowly becoming VERY sought after by most companies, though. But I know what you mean. I could never everrr be a model. I'm not good at being controlled. XD
Thank you so much! XD I'm happy you like the tattoo! I did it with a mixture of acrylic paints, artist soft pastels, and watercolor pencils (for the original sketch), then sealed it with Zoukimura finishing powder.
your boys look stunning together i have a jelouse one myself he's currently jelouse of my new doll getting allong so well with what he classes as his clive XD you made such depth come out in this picture and it caught my eye instantly, and wow thats won stunning tatto
your very welcome, Ah but jelouse boys are so much more fun they give you so amny more opertunatys to come up with fitting shoots for there moods and if your boy is anything like mine he dosent offten give me chance for shots.
i do tlike the tatto very much, and you shoud give the tatto more covarage so all can see its glory and your skill.
No, none of these types of dolls are American made or mass-produced, usually. They'll all artist made from parts of Asia (they're called ABJD's, or Asian Ball Jointed Dolls) cast in high quality resin. They're made to be customized, basically.
They seem pretty cool. You must be pretty into them if you know this much. I'm like that with tattoo's. Like how early Irish and Celtics would use a plant named woad to get blue pigment and implant them into there skin. It's too look brutish in battle by having markings on your skin. Sometimes they would go to battle without wearing armor to show off the tattoo's and intimidate. * The more you know *
I work on them as kind of a second job, and paint/design them for other people. I've been featured in a couple magazines for it as well as attended art conventions as a guest artist -- so yeah, I'm pretty into them you could definitely say. I'm a pro-photographer by trade, but this is something I enjoy on the side.
Oh, I see. Well I'm a huge tattoo-buff myself, so I think that's pretty cool that you know so much.
I've heard about the Hannya mask. I find it interesting, the range of emotions it can show and what it potrays, jealousy. jealousy can really be such a terrible demon, at times.
Back to the dolls, amazing! Did you do those tattoos and face up all by yourself? Astounding, simply astounding! They are so pretty together :3
I guess some people just can't leave their opinions on guyXguy relationships to themselves I guess? Well, I don't care either way. Personally I have never had any problems with homosexuality. If the two partners genuinely are in love with eachother then let them love. It isn't like it is a sin? *sigh* sometimes it still hurts me to see that homosexuality still isn't widely accepted in our society. A shame really, but thankfully it has begun, although slowly. Well, it is better than nothing I suppose
I love all things related to old lore, so the Hannya mask is a given.
And yes, I did! I do all of my own aesthetics works on my dolls. It's exhausting, LOL.
Ahh, yeah...honestly I don't know why people are still so weird about it. You'd think our society would be past this old way of thinking by now, but you're right, atleast there's some change happening. I'm a very open person, and see no difference in any orientation. Love in an uncontrollable thing in all honest situations, so I hope one day people can wake up and stop trying to control it so violently. Even though these are just dolls, I get sooo many cruel and horrible comments from people who just sound uneducated and ridiculous. Most are laughable, but sometimes it's genuinely hurtful. I mean, no one is forcing them to look at something that's "homosexual" right? So why are they looking.
Even if it is exhausting it sure pays off! Your doll Yuuya is so pretty :3 How do you manage to keep the face up and the tattoos so flawless? Doesn't it wear off after a while when you pose him around and such?
Yeah, I guess half of our world is still stuck in the dark ages. I blame religion a little for that It was religion that caused the witch hunting to start in the first place. Back to homosexuality I think it is great to see that more countries accepts it and let same sex couples marry My country, Norway, got added to that list the 1 of January 2009. I remember it created quite a bit of a stir in the media I think it is stupid for people to act like that, even worse when it is depicted in art. As you say there is no one that force them to look at those pictures so then why are they looking? To be Gods advocate or something? Please note I have nothing against any religion or orientation of life or anything. I just think that sometimes religion can make people act ridiculously stupid
Well, after a fews years, most face-ups/tattoos tend to wear down a bit, but overall damage doesn't happen unless...there's an accident. But I like to repaint my own stuff atleast once every two years, just to keep it fresh! The tattoos on Yuuya can be a pain though, because they're black and go inside the joints. So posing is something I have to be very careful and take my time with. No damage so far and he's been finished for over a year now!
Yeah, I agree. It is really stupid and honestly none of anyone else's business. It doesn't impact their lives (unless there's something completely wrong with the person, then that just makes me wonder if they're gay themselves, LOL) but yeah...religion has really made people feel okay about hurting others in the name of their God. It's pretty scary. I respect other people's beliefs but when laws are made to protect religions that enforce a certain belief that claim they're right and I'm wrong...that's when it REALLY bothers me. It does make people ridiculously stupid. I agree on that!
